Esquimalt Lagoon - A salt water lagoon situated on the south end of Vancouver Island which allows views of Olympic Mountains and panoramic view of the city.

It is surrounded by coniferous forests of Douglas- fir, grand fir, and western red cedar, The undergrowth is mostly while ferns, vanilla leaf, and foam flowery. Glen Creek. a small stream, feeds the lagoon. Esquimalt Lagoon is a favourite spot for Greater Victoria's waterbirds: Mallards, Pintails, Swans and Coots are attracted in large numbers.

The narrow stretch of beach that separates the lagoon from the ocean is called a spit. The spit was formed by wave action and deposits of sediment from the Colwood Delta.
