The Crystal
Gardens - In case of inclement weather, Ted
makes exclusive use of The Crystal Gardens, an
enclosed tropical rain forest, located behind the
Empress Hotel on Douglas Street in the heart of
downtown Victoria.
In addition to the hundreds of
tropical plants and flowers in bloom, the
Conservation Centre houses many mammals and other
animals. These include the world's smallest
monkeys and a multitude of species of endangered
birds and exotic butterflies.
At the time of opening in 1925 this
great building, designed by architects Rattenbury (Frances Mawson)
and James, contained the British Empire's largest
saltwater swimming pool, ballrooms, tea rooms and
a beautiful conservatory
The Crystal Garden Conservation
Centre boasts Fountains, waterfalls, and tropical
gardens all housed indoors all beneath an
incredible glass roof. It makes a truly perfect
setting for the intimate photos you'll need.
